Cloning a Virtual Machine (VM)

If I had to clone a Virtual Machine (VM), would it have the same properties as the original source? What different entities would it have from the original? Some hidden ID or something related? I did find this link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb963743.aspx but I would like more info on this please. I would most probably have the same Windows Name but what else would be identical?

The data is the same. It's like doing a block copy of the disk. Your windows key would be the same, installed software, etc.

The machine itself is slightly different - minor meta things like the VM name, ID, whatever identifying details would change, but that's it.
