ok so i know a little bit about computer but im not an uber computer god as some are. anyway i was looking into starting my first build and i have no cleu whether to chooe intel or amd. I would mostly use the computer for World of Warcraft and easy stuff like music and using the internet the intel i was looking into was a 3.4ghz p4. It's only $272 on Newegg. What would be the equivlant AMD processor and would i be better off with a an inte lro AMD? I was also looking into the whole overclocking thing. Is it done easily? would soemone such as myself be able to do it? Is there anything special i would need? I plan on getting 2x512 mb or corsair RAM and a heat sinc(sp?).

thnx for your help guys =)

well i s'pose you could call it moderate to heavy gaming.some soemwhat strenuous rpgs and some older stratedgy games

well amd maybe the route to go down. But i reality at the level of gaming you intend to do then you may not see the difference.
Read the 101 and you'll have a good idea/background

i've also noticed amd does not have much in the 3+ghz range is this made up for in other ways?

Why would they need to make up??? The AMD doesnt need a super high clockspeed as it gets more work done per cycle. You should generally look at the model number i.e a sempron 2600+ is comparable to a similar 2.6ghz intel even though it only runs at 1.89ghz (in performance). :)
