CM Storm Scout GPU Issue

Another question, I'm finally getting around to my new build and have a fitmit issue. I have a CM Storm Scout and my 4870X2 won't fit. I'd have to remove the drive where the HD would go and buy a 5.25 bracket to fit the HD and put it up higher. Does anyone have this case and what did you do to fit your long GPU card. I have the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme on the card to keep it nice and cool. If I took it off, which I won't it would fit snug in there. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have the Storm Scout and a GTX 260 which is quite long (10.5" I think), it fits in there with about 5mm gap between the card and the HDD rack. As you probably know the HDD rack is mounted sideways, so if it were me I would cut the rack up the top so there's a small hole for the card to fit through and keep the bottom HDD bays intact so you've still got somewhere to mount your HDD.

To save me money, this is what I decided to do. The 4870 is about 10.5" and would fit, but with the aftermarket cooler it's 12" long. I had to cut the top of the HD enclosure 2" and the back side. But it saves me money, still looks good and when I put the HD back in, it stabilizes it even more. I snapped a few pics. I'll share them in a bit.

Here are a few pics. before and after.

Good work, that's exactly what I was thinking would be the best way to do it. It doesn't look too bad either. If you wanted to make it look neater though you could get some black rubber tubing and cut it down the middle then push it on over the edge right the way around.

Yeap, exactly what I was thinking. I only had the big stuff like 3/4-1" I need maybe 1/4" would be great. Thanks for the suggestion....:good:

You have 2 seperate cards with no aftermarket cooler. And if I was betting, I'd say my one card (4870X2) with 2 processors built in would most definately outperform your 2 GTX260....:D

If you have done your research, you would have known that Palit uses an aftermarket cooler and design their own PCBs.

Nah, I measured the case in the shop I work at before I bought it. It fits a 5970 just barely.:D

I figured your just messing around so I did the same :D.... You can fit a 5970 like I can, but my card is bigger because of the cooler I need on the 4870X2. This this is a heat monster without the cooler on it.

I know who Palit is and they make very good cards and yes they put on a custom pcb and cooling system. But they are a manufacturer, so as that goes it is their cooler, not an aftermarket. It's aftermarket from what nvidia uses stock. I'm not here to argue anything, I was looking for suggestions, you were trying to bash my card FTW. Your 2 cards in SLI is an excellent set up and you can probably play anything you want on high settings, but what does having your set up do with suggestion for the problems I was having and how is that FTW??? I can read and talk about a Palit GTX 260 and lists it's goods and bads, but again how is this going to hep me with my original post. I thought your were messing around so I did the same, but here you go again with the if I did my reasearch b.s..... How's this, we end this and go help other forum members and become more productive.....:good: oh and AMEN!!! :good:
