CMOS Battery Question

Hey all!

I just changed my CMOS battery cause my computer is already 6 year old and I thought It might have ran out of power soon.
After I changed the battery the bios was reset, but the date and time WERE NOT.
Is this normal or should I be worried? I changed the battery after waiting 15 seconds.

What steps did you take to observe the time/date?
Also some of those batteries last a lot longer than that.

I just saved the new bios settings and after that the time and date were correct... I found that really weird

Windows will automatically poll time servers to keep your clock up to date, so that may have been a factor if the time was reset when you set the bios options, but you observed the correct time within the OS.
