does turning the power off overnight. Maybe for 1 or 2 nights at most effect the CMOS battery and time on the computer. It had a new motherboard put in yesterday and i was on it last night. Turned it off bout 1am and switched it off on the wall as usual. Just gone on it now and it says its 1am still. It might just be the battery thats gone dodgy but just wanted to check see if the power being off would effect it. I know if you leave it weeks it does but it was only overnight.

i belive the cmos battery can last for months before you lose the information in the bios. even if the battery does go flat it shouldn't cause a problem as the system will revert to default settings stored on a chip

well im going to leave it tonite and see if it has changed tomorrow. It should all be set up right, ive had it repaired at a proper computer place so i took it they knew what they were doin.

The battery is MADE to prevent it from loosing the information when the machine's off. Though really, I'd think it wouldn't even be using it unless it actually didn't have power(not just switched off...)

Do you get any other errors or just a problem with time? Usally, if it's battery related, you'll get other errors, like it forgetting the settings for your drives, boot order, etc etc...
