have a comp that I've just bought a new HDD for...
but when I put it in and powered up the HDD would not be found in CMOS.
I reset CMOS from the MoBo, then booted up again. This time the message came up CMOS Checksum bad.
What does this exactly mean, and what do I do to fix the prob?

When you get that message most of the time either the CMOS has been reset to failsafe defaults or it prompts you to do so. In either case, reset it and then on the next bootup, set the options back to what you like them to be. It could also be a sign of a failing CMOS battery (which should be easy to test for)
