COD 4 for PC question

I want to beable to play cod4 on my laptop but i have a question on its preformance, I can play cod4 ok, It loads fine and seams to play fine, every now and then tho there is a lag, not a bad lag but there is some kind of lag, It does not matter if I am playing online our not. What can I do to my laptop to make it run a little more smoother? Laptop specks are:

Gateway NV52

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 2.10ghz

4GB DDR2 Ram

320 GB HD

ATI Radeon HD 3200 1GB graphics

win 7 home premium

Also, I have closed out all most running programs except anti virus, Helps a little not much. any tips would be great, Thanks~!

To be honest other than lowering the game settings your only going to get the performance the laptop is able to give,Its not realy meant to game.

Its not like a Desktop where i could recommend maybe overclocking your graphics card/Processor either or something to get a boost.

Some things you could try,Do a Defrag on your HDD...a fresh windows install would be nicer if its not been done for a long time.

What RPM is your hard drive in that Laptop?....just asking because if its something like a 5400rpm thats also going to be slowing things down too,a 7200rpm could make a diffrence.

yeah you really shouldn't oc your cpu and oc'ing your gpu wouldn't be the best idea either. like nevakonaza said, just lower the settings.
