:(I bought it from the shops today, installed it and all I get is a blank screen, any idea's?

I got this with COD4 as well, but that was because I moved a file by accident, but I haven't touched it this time.
Please help out a brother.:D

Have a look in here...

Ok, for everyone getting the stupid endless black screen bug, the fix is incredibly simple. Just Alt+Tab out if it to switch to a new screen. Afterwards, Alt+Tab back into it, then hit Esc. The main intro should start right up. It’s worked for me everytime so far. Now I’m not 100% sure this works on XP or not, since I use 32-bit Vista, but I imagine it will.

Solution #2 : from Anonymous @ thepiratebay

Assuming you have installed Call of Duty World at War in it’s default installation directory :

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\main\video

and delete “Treyarch.bik”. It is recommended that you keep a backup of this video file

I can't actually alt-tab out. I got SP working once, but there is no sound to it, FFS. Seriously.

hmm....what os are you running?

Ive actualy been having sound problems in cod5 too,i can hear my own shooting....but i cannot hear other teammates shooting or my reloading.

I think its a problem with my creative sound card drivers though as ive been having sound problems with other things...not just cod5...creatives been releasing some crap drivers lately.

I probably should have typed down some of my specs.
I got the Win7 RC 7127 64x
C2D E7300 Oc'ed to 3Ghz
2G of RAM
Nvidia 9600GT
couple hundred Gigs of HDD space and yeh.

I have re-installed it a couple times and I just went down to EB games and got the disc replaced so hopefully it should work.

But seriously, the 2 times it actually worked, no sound at all.

EDIT: Just used the new DVD, PIECE OF **** game.
Goddammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has anyone with win7 actually got this working properly yet?

If you ahve a copy of xp or vista goose, make a partition, install it, install CoD5 and see if it works. Could it not be a problem with win7 + WaW?

You could have told me this over steam ya know...
Yeh I think it is just Win7, but Win7 essentially is Vista, sort of, so blahg.

Serious?!
Does anyone know why it just gives me a blank screen?
I can't alt-tab out and that delete treyarch or w/e doesn't work.

I was looking around for info on your problem and someone mentioned One way to make it run is to drop the sound quality.

I personaly cant see this working, but worth a shot.

1. Go to Control Panel
2. The click on “Hardware and Sound”
3. Click on “Sound”
4. Doble click on “speakers”
5. go to the Advanced tab
6. Set the default format to “24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)”
7. Thats it!

someone else mentioned

Try changing your desktop res to something lower (1024x768) and also try changing the refresh rate to app controlled or 60 Htz. Some older Ubisoft games required that the colour depth and res on the desktop be set a certain way before the game would run.

Have you tried Safe mode? Try running the game in safe mode as someone also mentioned that.

Thats all i could find out...sorry.

It works okay here on 7x 64.

I already have the sound quality like that :(
I have run in safe mode, my screen is naturally 60Hz but at 1280x1024.
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
$89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmm this is a tricky one...best contacting Activision or Treyarch support for this one.

Nh it won't work anyway, no I haven't tried it, but yeh it won't make a difference.
I traded it in for Prototype (which was probs a very bad idea) and I might just buy it off steam sometime.
