COD4...improve sniping

I want to improve my sniping skills because thats what i lack in COD4

what sniper rifle do you recomend me to use....and should i use slight of hand or Iron lungs?

I use Slight of Hand and Iron Lungs, I use the Golden Sniper, but try whatever the highest sniper you have unlocked, if you dont like that, try using the first basic one.

The first sniper and the R700 are about equal in accuracy, but the former has less recoil. I prefer it.
 
One could argue that a good sniper can snipe with any weapon. But personally I first used the g3 with red dot sight to get the feel of recoil. Once that was all the way leveled up I used the dragunov for a while cause its relatively fast and small recoil. Then I played with the 50 cal with has more power and more recoil. And am now on the m21 which has less power, but is faster, and has small recoil.

In reality its your choice of gun. Play around with them all and find one thats good for you. BTW, go with iron lungs :D.

Protip: Dont aim at the head...or the body. Ive gotten more headshots by aiming just slightly (like 1mm) above the head. :).
 
The M40A3 is the best sniper. Period. You might want to play with your sensitivity settings as well, and possibly invest in a high-performance mouse.

One of if not my favorite thing to do is Sniping. And the best sniper rifle in the game is no doubt the M40A3. It has the best accuracy/damage ratio and less recoil. It also looks the sickest IMO (along with the R700 in plain black :D).

So, to start with as Kobaj said, always try to shoot just a bit above their heads. And also only "Hold Breath" when you are ready to shoot. If you just wanna scan the area, just switch to scope and only hold you breath when you're gonna shoot. If you are walking/running and you see an enemy in the distance, hold "shift" or whatever key you have to hold your breath then switch to scope so that yout guys starts holding it's breath as soon as possible. Aim and don't wait, shoot as soon as you have him in aim.

As for the perks, Stopping Power + Deep Impact are your best friends! Trust me!

I agree, although the ACOG is sometimes really helpful, it takes a very different skill to snipe with the regular scope. And I also agree with not staying in one place the whole time.

Two more tips:

In big/open maps such as Overgrown or (the one with the missile launchers all over the place) try to go around the map and not walk through the middle. Also, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TALL GRASS, THE GUILLIE SUITS MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ENEMIES TO SPOT YOU IN TALL GRASS!!!!

The only problem is that sometimes lying in the grass it gets in the way and you cant see a damn thing through the scope lol :D
 
the .50 cal with stopping power is guarrented a kill anywhere u hit them. i would use iron lungs or deep penetration if u r someone who doesnt like to hold their breath
