Codecs F**** codecs...

Hey guys , if there something i really hate in pc world , it's codecs... Ive tried many pack but i never get what i want, right now im with ACE Mega Codec pack... im trying to export my video maded with FRAPS but it never work... Xilisoft PSP Converter wont convert em at all , 3GP wont work on psp , Windows Movie Maker wont encode them , and RiverPast Crazi PSP Cobverter is crap quality , and the sound is wierd...



So i am asking , is there any codec pack in this world that would allow me to do ANYTHING with audio/video?
Is there a General Video converter is this world that would allow me to convert ANY FORMATS of video to another?

Yeah , i agree that K-Lite seems great , ill take a look later , and i didnt mention that my video are for dvd's... just convert em for local playback , psp and internet...

Nah! Codecs rule ... 'sides its always funny to sit back and watch people panic over codecs :P

To save yourself the problem, avoid codec packs (unless you know what you're doing... at wchih point we wouldnt have this thread) and simply install the codecs you need :) As a quick reference for both playback and encoding, ive got a quick list of exact codec configs that you can use verbatim (provided you uninstall ALL the codecs you've got now)

Cheers Praetor, not only did those codecs the site told me to install cut down the length of time it takes for my encoding in tmpgenc, but it also made san andreas work!

No more random codec packs for me
 
Hehe, glad it worked :) When i get a chance (been busy lately) ill get aorund to updating the codec guide to include 264/Matroska and other random wierdness but it should suffice for now :)
