coincidence? i think not

there is nothing 'legal' on limewire really
Of course there is, you obviously just aren't searching for it... *nudge nudge* Anyway, P2P was never designed for global mass data transfer, it was meant to be used as the name suggested, peer to peer. At first it was meant to share files between two or a few PC's... It's only recently in the last few years that it's been used so much that you can pretty much get anythign on there, legal or illegal.

i do not use any form of P2P, the only free stuff on there is linux and peoples pictures and som unsigned artists, the majority of stuff people download is illegal MP3 files, porn and movies which can all carry viruses, as well as people downloading exe's for programs which are almost bound to be laden with goodies

I have a theory, other than graphic intense programs and cpu demanding programs the real reason people need faster and faster computers is because they keep putting more and more crap software on them. I have a rule of thumb when my computer is sitting idle there should be no more than 30 processes running in the back ground (windows xp, i'm sure my rule would have to chage for vista). Anyone else do the same thing?

and dont forget usenet, viruses over there gets out faster than it is being put on the antivirus database :)

usually found in fake cracks!

i've never had a virus from downloading movies or console games, but i've downloaded quite a few apps that were bundled with fake cracks, which sent my computer into a spazz-out

Comparing my installs of Vista and XP Vista actually has less processes running(I am like you 30 or less)but the processes are more intensive too

I fix most of my friends' computers for them when something goes wrong, and 90-95% of the time when I run combofix, I find limewire or morpheus, along with a lot of illegal software, but what can you do. Very few people will turn down a chance to get something for nothing

sometimes they are showna as htm or picture files so you would think you can't get them from pictures :)
