College dorm situation (help)

I'm currently trying to play an MMO, Darkfall, in my dorm. Needless to say, I'm having issues. At home, if any ports need forwarding or if any networking issues need tending to, it's a lot easier to manage since it's my own hardware. Here, I'm a bit clueless. I have monitoring software installed on my computer (campus mandate) called Bradford Persistent Agent. It doesn't affect my internet performance while browsing or even playing Call of Duty on my PS3. When it comes to the MMO, my latency spikes more than five times a minute to 1000-40,000. No exaggeration. When I first started playing, my ping was 90 on average. After a few logins, this issue arose. I've tried learning about tunneling, as I've read that's a common solution for dorms and online gaming, but that hasn't helped much--most likely because I'm not too educated on the matter. I'm not a computer genius, but I'm fairly literate. It's beyond frustrating. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Also running Vista; figured that'd be useful information to some.

Network tunneling is the same thing as port forwarding, except tunneling is illegal because you would be dodging through your schools firewall. Talk to the network/tech people at your school, I guarantee you they have a legal way around this problem.

Sucks to say, I inquired and they were of no help at all. That's mainly why I'm so desperate. I'm returning to them tomorrow to check in once more.

I'm sorry to hear that. Try speaking to one of the IT students instead, I guarantee you they are actively playing MMOs. If they don't have a fix I am going to be EXTREMELY surprised.

Upon my second check in, I gave him port numbers I discovered from the MMO's forums; official port forwarding information given by the game's developers. The IT guy, a graduate from the university (I'm assuming a computer science major or something of the like), said he emailed someone about it but hadn't gotten a response. Going to check in again soon. Thanks for the advice, man. I appreciate it.
