I am about to buy my laptop for college, but I have a few Questions. Please answer as many as you can. Thanks

1.) 3 or 4gb of ram ($50 difference)? I play some not so taxing games, but thinking of getting Sims 3. Is the extra gb of ram worth $50?

2.) Should I get 32bit or 64bit Vista? What are the downsides to 64bit? Any compatibility and driver issues like when Vista first came out? I know hte memory advantage of 64bit, but I dont want to not be able to run certain programs because of it either.

3.) What can I use bluetooth for? Its $25. I have no need for a bluetooth mouse. I am getting a new cell phone too, which I assume will have bluetooth. Anything else I can link to my PC via bluetooth? Not keyboard, mouse, headphones though.

1) 4Gb matching pairs
2) 64-bit if you want 4Gb RAM, 32-bit won't address it all. 64-bit can run anything 32-bit can for the most part, no problems with Vista.
3) you should get it for the future, many things can connect with it including your phone for contacts and calendar and other things

Ok, I was searching on the HP website and customing laptops to see what I can get (Parents Graduation Gift- Max Price $1000, but I can add some).

I noticed this:
HDX16t series- Customized for $1,244
HDX18t series- Customized for $1,225

The only differences I could tell between these two (after comparing what I customized) were:
-the HDX16t has a 16" screen with a resolution of 1366x768 vs the HDX18t with an 18.4" screen with a resolution of 1920x1080
-the HDX16t has a 8x DVD drive and the HDX18t has a blue-ray ROM drive
-the HDX16t has a 12cell battery and the HDX18t has an 8

Why is the HDX18t cheaper, when it has a better screen, better resolution, and only a smaller battery?
 
HP probably got a bulk discount for some part. It's not even by that much. id get the HDX18t, looks better to me

Does this seem like a good laptop for $1,224.99? Again, Ill be using it for mostly school work, movie watching, and occasional mid-requirement games. Or should I go with something cheaper? I really dont need the blu-ray, or the large screen, but is it worth getting for the price? Thanks
 
thats sounds like a pretty amazing computer for the uses you've detailed- treat it well, and you could have it for years!
