ha ha ha yes im finally start college ill majorin in network administration. but is that a good major to learn more about computers though
suggestions and opinions welcome

It sounds like you dont really know what you want to do specifically, im in a similar boat.

Im guessing in that major you will learn the basics of computer hardware, programming, database, scripting, and a few other computer related areas. But you will be focusing more on network and how to manage networks, subnetting, etc.
 
you're only going inside of a computer in HARDWARE class and thats it. thats the only class that you open up a computer and play around with it. Everything else is network related and a bunch of other courses that doesnt relate to the major like math and english :D

Very true. I'm majoring in IT, and they had one class thats hardware related.

In all honestly, in the real world the majority of problems are user error, so theres rarely a time where you need to go repair the internals of a computer. Probably 95% of the time you are working on networking related tasks, troubleshooting, and backing everything up.
 
I would say yes, if you think you'll end up somewhere in the computer field. Even if you dont, saying you have a college degree is always a plus in any job.
 
ok cool thank u guys all again but i have one more question which major would u prefer to start out wit network admin or pc information technology
 
I would say IT would be the place to start, Network Admin isnt a job you get right out of college (usually). In the places that i've visited, for the most part when you get out of college, you are hired as a help desk person, who helps co-workers or clients with their computer problems, then you may get promoted depending on how well you work and such.

Don't expect to get out of college and become a network admin :)
 
i was lucky enough to land a network admin position before i even graduate, i'm still in school.... last quarter :D~~~
