Color display problem

Every time I plug/unplug or close the lid the colors/saturation change and it's becoming annoying, mainly because I do drawings and have no clue which colors are accurate. I've checked through many things (power settings, advanced power settings, Intel graphics settings) but nothing works... Using 2009 Dell Windows 7

I dunno much about computers, but I'd guess that it's designed to save power when unplugged by toning down a brightness/color setting. If there's some sort of directory (or w/e) listing codes/programs I could plug the power cord up and see what's turning it on and off then post the information here for someone to figure out. I just don't know where to start...

The only thing I can think of is make sure you have the correct video drivers installed. Other than that, it could be an issue with the screen. Have you tried an external display?

I've actually prepped some color samples and sent them to a friend to compare over skype, going by what he said, it appears they're more accurate (brighter) while charging, whereas unplugged it's dimmed. Also I noticed how an alert for my high brightness settings stated "current brightness may reduce battery life" making it seem like a battery preserving issue, as the colors fade over several seconds rather than jumping immediately. Could be wrong, but would the driver update fix the issue if this is the case? How much do the drivers cost?

I have a monitor but it's not working atm.

Drivers are free. Check your power settings. I would expect you should be the balanced plan.

I think it's fixed now, but I just bought a new monitor for my PC and now the colors on THIS thing feel sorta wonky... Adjusted gama bright/cont from the calibrate tool, still looks a little off though and I dunno why...
