Hi all. im just wondering if there is a website where i can find different color themes for win XP? like if you go to the properties and under 'appearance' there are default blue, olive green and silver. i was wondering if it is possible to download more schemes without having to download whole desktop themes. thanks a lot...

more color for the same XP look? i doubt you'll find it. When people skin XP they usually do it because they dont like the kindergarten look of XP, so they dont recolor it, they completely change it.

If you still want to look around I recommend going to
www.wincustomize.com and looking around at the windowblinds skins
you have to download windowblinds to actually use any of those skins but its a fairly small prog.

Many things you can try:

Packs
crystalxp.net

Skins w/ 3rd party apps
wincustomize.com
skinbase.org
themexp.org

Visual Styles
www.deviantart.com

I'd recommend using visual styles since it works fairly well without any added applicaitons or tools. You will just need to patch up a windows file allowing 3rd party visual styles to be installed.

Next, possibly bricopacks and installation packs that replaces the existing files on your OS. For example your "My Computer" icon will be replaces with a new "My Computer" icon. These apps usually make backups and does so without any other tools or apps. However, these might mess up your setup if you ever choose to uninstall them.

After, would be sites such as wincustomize that requires 3rd party tools to be installed which could thus, slow your computer down tremendously or noticeably. It depends on your specs and if you want that.

There are also many more sites you can look into, but those are what comes to mind.

I have installed Windowblinds on an old 800Mhz Duron comp with integrated graphics with only a slight slowdown. It's maybe only slightly bigger a resource hog than if you were to use Windows XPs own theme.
