Coloured Vertical lines

Vertical coloured lines have started to appear on my Vaio laptop. Every day the lines become more pronounced. What might be the problem?

The screen may be broken. Can you supply us with a picture? maybe we will be able to tell more information then.

Now here's a weird idea to try in fact I might be talking a load of rubbish, press "printscreen" go into "paint", copy and paste onto desktop but make it smaller than the screen. If the picture doesn't have lines in the same place then everything up to and including the graphic card is OK.
