Combining Computers

Hello,
I recently acquired a few old computers from some friends in the hopes that I can salvage some parts. It looks like two computers are exactly the same. If they have the same motherboard and/or CPU, is there any way that I can combine the two computers together to make a multi-core CPU? I suspect that the motherboards are from Intel and CPUs are old single-core Pentium 4s.

assuming that the motherboard is good, then it depends on your processor socket. Pentium 4 bridged several, the top 2 being 478 and 775. The 775 MAY support dual core or quad core processors.

Assuming that you are as crazy as me, no. You can not take two computers and add them together with both working off 1 board. There is a way to run two computers together off of a bridge. What it is called, and the specifics are beyond me.

Your best bet is to find out what works, and sell that to get you a newer Core i series computer. they have compromable price (yet better performance) to the 775 set ups.

there is a way, but it's not like what you would imagine. you wouldn't be able to run windows for example.
it's called a beowulf cluster, and it works better if you have more than two of the same machine.
