Hey guys! :)

I'm planning on getting the E2160 and my question is:

Do I really need to buy the ARCTIC COOLER Freezer 7 Pro? I've read tons of reviews off Newegg.com of people reaching 3.0GHz on stock cooling. SO I'm undecided. I'm thinking on getting just the CPU and see what I get, then if I get high temps or not high enough OC, then I buy the cooler.

Any comments?

BTW: I'm getting the GA-P35-DS3L

Get the freezer 7 pro + MX-2 thermal paste, then study the art of overclocking. Last but not least, OC that sucker to 3.0ghz :P

Oh yeah I forgot aobut the paste, but can I apply it even if the Cooler has some pre-applied in it?

You don't have to use that paste, but its better than what comes on it.

IF you were to use it instead of the pre applied paste, then you would want to use rubbing alcohol to remove it from the heatsink. The use the new stuff, and put a small thin line down the middle of the cpu like this it must be in the correct direction (let the heatsink spread it out)

Ok, I made my decison and I am getting the AC Freezer 7 Pro. Not sure about the thermal paste cause I already went over my budget so yeah...

The stuff on it should be fine, when you go to seat the heatsink, be sure to get it right the first try. Or else you'll have to get new paste.

Haha, show-off on the pic! "Ultra Durable 2" :P Just kidding man!

Thanks for the tips Corey, I'm excited about it, hopefully ordering my parts this Friday.

Oh, I'll definately do. I'll need some help with the OC'ing and I'll also add some pics for you all to stare at all night!

lol. copyer. i just got the same mb and processor :P... mines at 3.1 now... bsod at 3.2 on voltage being set by the motherboard. may go up.

Whats that I see? a "rolleyes" smiley? :D

cool, let us know how it goes :D

stop using the "rollseyes" smiley, i hate it :P

Yeah right!! :P j/k

Haha yeah, I haven't ordered though, doing it this Friday most likely. What setting do you have your at to run at 3.1GHz?

Hey guys, I put a poll on this thread. I'm still thinking if I should buy an aftermarket cooler for the E2160 or try it with stock cooler first. Afterall, any OC I get with it will be better than my current X2 3800+...

well i have my e4500 at 3GHZ on stock cooling, i idle at about 32 degrees and it never hits 42, and the reviews around the web say these processors can overclock to like 3.3 GHZ on stock cooling.

oh i only used the comparison to my processor because they use the same stepping and architecture, the e2160 just has a little less cache
