Should I get an aftermarket cooler?

I went with the DS3L....

I am gonna oc in a couple 2-3 month's

For now I need to look for a good deal on a case =D

BTW: If you're looking for a good case in all aspects, get the NXZT Apollo. ;)

I think I'm going with the aftermarket cooling. I don't think $25 is gonna hurt. What do you guys think? My goal is to reach the 3.0GHz mark when I get it...
 
Well, it depends on what case it is, what you want it for (noise levels, cooling, space...) and price.
 
AC Freezer 7. Good cooler on a budget. Great in fact. I've gotten the E2140 on a $9 Rosewill cooler with their stock thermal paste to 3.07GHz. You should have no problem OCing past that with that cooler + AS5/MX-2.
 
I think the difference is the multiplier is 9x instead of 8x.

I got the E2160 instead of the E2140 just because they were the exact same price at the time.

I changed the FSB on mine from 800 to 1066, no voltage increase. It tends to idle under 20C in a cold house, about 60F room temperature.

I have a Zalman CNPS8000 with the fan at ~1000RPM.

I don't imagine the stock cooler would be all that much worse, the fan would just have to run a lot faster. So it depends if you care about noise.

I voted for the aftermarket one anyway just because of how the stock cooler is designed. It puts a lot of strain on your motherboard.

Yeah, it's only like $3 more, for +200MHz I think its worth it. ;)

@ fortyways: Yeah I'm going aftermarket cause I don't wanna run into heating problems whenever I want to go further when I reach my max...
