Comp Freezes.. what to do?

I've already overclocked my 3000+ to 225 on the front side bus, without increasing the voltage, and with the stock heatsink fan. I only ran it for a few hours wiht that setting, and everything seemed to work fine. I went back down to 200 (normal), and a few months later (which is now) I decided to go back up a little. I set it to 215 in the BIOS, and it started freezing. Once I start the computer, it tells me the usual "if your computer hang on overclock, press Delete key" or soemthing like that, and freezes on that first screen. I can't press anything, the only thing I'm able to do is a soft restart. So, I'm wondering, how can I set my FSB back to normal?

Also, if I do get this running, what would be a safe voltage to go up to with the regular heatsink on the 3000+?
 
The best and safest way is to up it a little bit then see if it works, then repeat you'll need to get a program in winodows that tells you system temps etc.. (Everst home edition is a good one)

Although an even better way is to find a overclocking manual on the net specificly for your motherboard...

the only problem i see is that my computer wont turn on at 215 on the fsb. as soon as i go up that high, it gives me the "if system hangs press delete before nexct overclock" and freezes, so i have to reset cmos. i tried increasing voltage from 1.4 to 1.45, and the other HT link or whatever by +.1, it still wont work. any ideas?
 
Have you read through OC101 and made sure you haven't overlooked anything? For example, have you cut down the HTT/LDT multiplier, and reduced the memory divider to elimenate your RAM as a problem?
 
well, i dont think the ram is a problem, because before it gives me that screen, it says memory: (however much), type; ddr2, and then it says over cpu clock, if system hang... etc. so i dont think ram is a problem.
 
yea if it freezes, the overclock went bad. the best way to restart it is by letting it sit in the off position for 5-10 minutes, start it up again and this time hold delete or whatever your computer tells you to.
i wouldn't overvolt it at all if i had stock cooling... but yea watch temps and see if you can at all. i got 400mhz outta my rig easily without any overvoltage.
