Which computer manufacture (dell, hp ect) would be good for a laptop?

at least 15.4 inches
light-ish
2gb ram
at least 80gb hd
800-1,200

What manufacturer would be good for this?

I like Toshiba, I jsut bought a 17" HP notebook with a built in finger print scanner for a Christmas present. I work for a company that has exclusively Dells. They seem to be OK. I think there a lot of companies that use Dell. I know the US Government has all Dells. The last job I had I went to DOJ and Dept of the inter, they had all Dell. So ther are one heck of a lot of parts on places like ebay. Especially if you get a Latitude. I still like my Toshiba , IT seems more rugged, thicker plastic, especially on the back of the display. I take my toshiba in the car, it runs my OBD2 scanner software to mod my car's OS.

..another good point about Dell, is they have service manuals for everything they make, that you can download for free. There are a few mistakes like an extra screw to take out of a notebook mainboard for removal. Just keeps you on your toes. Also Alienware notebooks are Dells also

I like dells because their (sp?) driver site is very easy to use you just type in the service tag and you have your drivers and your warranty info right there

Toshiba, Just got one and i love it. My old toshiba lasted me 8 years. Still works just old. Gateway are good to. Dont get DELL. They are not that good.

I had Dell's and a Toshiba, loved them all. Would recommend the Dell since I feel they have the best warranty.

I have a 3 year warinty on mine. And i have protection in case i drop my laptop or crack the screen, Toshiba will replace my laptop.

The only computer maker I had problems with was Gateway. Our first two computers were Gateways (The first one was from the Gateway 2000 era) and they barely lasted 3 years before the optical drivers or hard drives went.
