comp newb, Question with new video card

So i bought a new video card the eVGA geforce 6600 GT. so i had a friend to install for me. but when i tried playing the game Gunz online the graphics were kinda sluggish and mouse became unsensitive. It was even like "laggier" then the video card i had b4 which supposedly a pretty bad one. What is causing this problem? well i have a Pent4 2.4 ghz is it too weak for the video card? well another wierd thing ive seen is...wen i turn on my computer..it says i dont have enough power for the card? what does that mean and how can i solve the problem? thanks for reading this might b too long
 
well im i newb with computers..but driver..is the cd that came with the card right? i think my frnd installed it for me. i also just downloaded this patch from..the evga site.the game is still lag (so is it the power problem,or it doesnt effect it)
 
i downloaded the driver..but the GAME is still lagging but outside of the game..things work pretty well.
i wanna know what this is trying to say "the NVIDIA system Sentinel is reporting that the NVIDIA-powered grahpics card is not receiving sufficient power.
 
The 6600GT (AGP version at least, not sure about PCI-E) requires external power. Your friend may not have plugged it in, which is why you will get the power messages. If this isn't it, it's probably your PSU.
 
hmm so i shud check my PSU and. plug my external power in for it ( does the power message relate to the laggness in my games?? thanks for the help :D
 
It definetly could be. If you do have the AGP version, make sure you plug in a molex conector (the 4 pin conector that your PSU has tons of) into here:

Also check your PSU for watts and amps on the +12 V line(s)
 
yaa i have the AGP version..so i think i needa plug the thing in :P i think my friend forgot to do it . thanks for the help guys
