Comp. Turning Off

Hey, I have recently just built a computer, but the only thing I do not have is ram. I have tried to turn it on to see if it will atleast turn on. It does, I have a light up keyboard and it lights up and everything so I know that the motherboard is working fine, but when I turn it on it only turns on for about 5-10 secs then shuts off. Is this due to that I do not have ram in? I have checked my power supply and the fan is turning, its 800 watts so I am pretty sure it can run everything. Anyone know what is going on?
 
Why even tun it on w/o ram it wont do n e thing wait til u get ram if it still does it it could br processor getting too hot
 
I'll answer here with forget it. The system won't even run without at least one dimm installed. Having working memory installed is a mandate. You will need to install the proper memory in order to see the system start. The board is being self protective by immediately shutting down. Once you buy and install the correct memory then you can proceed to see if everything else is going to run normally.
 
would you try to start a car without a battery! memory is a major component
dont mess with expensive things if you dont know what you are doing you might regret it
 
Well it's like inviting everyone for a pc cookout there. You won't be happy when the hardware and the money to replace them goes up in smoke. :eek: :eek: :eek: !!! :( :( :(
 
Trying to turn it on without RAM won't heat anything up, so don't worry. The worst thing that's going to happen is that the PC speaker is going to scream bloody murder at you and the PC will shut down.

If the memory seats properly in place then it is probably the right memory. Good chance anyways. It might be the wrong speed, but unless it is way off then it should at least boot up.

So don't worry? :rolleyes: You would advise running a system either without memory or with the wrong type? :rolleyes: That would make it a cooker.
