Comp won't connect to internet

my netgear finds the router and says it's connected but the computer icon at the bottom right hand side will not renew my i.p which results in the computer not connecting, help?
 
If the router has security disable until you know for sure you can connect to the router and browse the web. When you can connect and browse, then try to add the security back to it. You might have a security issue or may have to update the wireless driver.
 
still cannot connect, this is really bugging me.

i have reinstalled windows and the drivers. everything! nothing works though.

still cannot get onto the internet
 
Can you connect using a different computer thats wireless? So we can troubleshoot whats wrong.
 
This has happened to me and I fixed it by resetting the wireless router. I don't know about yours, but on mine there is a tiny hole in the back just big enough for a paper clip. I've had to do this a couple of times in the last year.
 
Call Netgear

I would call netgear support and make them walk you through to fixing it. It's so frustrating how much effort they make you put in to trying to getting a computer to connect to a router.
