K, well i had a thread a few days ago where i had been having problems with my comp not starting and ended up resetting cmos re-seating the ram and removing the psu and all, and in the end noticed the gfx card wasn't seated properly, pushed it in and slid the lock over the hook and it started, untill it asked windows or ubuntu, where if i hit win i get a message saying windows/drivers/ntfs is missing, and if i ht ubuntu it just restarts, and when i put in my ubuntu 10.04lts disk in it comes up with a screen and after a minute goes to the blinking underscore, and nothing, left for like 10 mins that way and still nothing, this comp is really getting on my nerves, and is the 2nd in my sig.

idk where it is and can ask dad but would like to not so don't get yeld at for whatever (he gets pissed randomly sometimes for little things, he's weird)

Could potentially be some kind of hard drive problem, do you have another known working one to swap it out with?

yeah, but the thing with the ubuntu disk i noticed that after a min or 2 it slowed or stopped, couldn't tell, and it probably is the hdd cuz 1, i think it's older than the comp., which is from around '01 i think, 2, it has a bent pin, but it has had it and still worked fine for a while, recently noticed it after this began and straightened it but no diff, luckily still have a samsung 60gb (other is 20, was master) will try that in a little while.

Yeah give that a shot and also just see if you can format the thing and re-install Ubuntu or Windows.

might bet sister's usb drive and turn it into the live disk of 11.04 and use it to install, then this comp's wifi adapter to get the crap for that comp's adapter, then just use ubuntu only, does everything windows can plus on its athlon xp 2400+ @ 2ghz should be a good bit faster than windows.

even on the other/good disk it still does the same with the ubuntu disk, i just left it doing whatever to see if it can figure it out, can't wait to get my build going so i can junk that p.o.s., too much to keep it running at this point.
