Company/Product Blacklist

I don't know CF.com's attitude toward this kind of topic but at times I feel like I should let people know about bad companies or products.

So if you feel like you want to add to this, please keep it in a dignified manner and respectful manner, even towards the company of which your are reporting. Also, please do not report where it might have been a bad experience especially for you or may have been caused by you.

So, anyways, here my first (and hopefully last) entry:

I advise to avoid buying Razer products. After a mishap and product damage, due to the product's bad design, Razer fails to respect their warranty and will classify practically anything as 'wear-and-tear', even if it's within the regular warranty. This even includes if the product is still in its original packaging, as a friend describes, as his product was received cracked and Razer failed to replace his product under the condition of 'wear-and-tear'.

Key:

Defective or premature failure of product: Product
Bad warranty policies: Warranty

Full list:

Razer cellphones: Product/Warranty
Razer company: Warranty
Sony DLP televisions: Product/Warranty
Xbox 360: Product/Warranty

Not sure as bee said on what CF's stand on this type of topic is and if this is bad please delete it and I wont be hurt. Never buy a Samsung DLP. Their product support is horrid. Thank god sears eventually came in and helped me here on this but I bought one and it was a lemon. Turns out after my ordeal I read in consumer reports that dlp's have 40-50% defects in the first 3 years. The picture was great until you get it home and try to watch a non hd channel.

Ok so my ordeal started a short 3 weeks after I got the tv home. One night I turned the tv off after normal watching and went to turn it on a few hours later after going out and it acted like it was going to come on but immediately shut itself off. I tried for about an hour to no success to get it back on so I called their support. Now I read in the manual that the light code it was showing was overheating but they swore to me that it was because the bulb was bad so they send a guy here to work on it he brings a bulb and that didn’t work so he says I will be back in a week.

Keep in mind I have to leave work for about 3 hours each time because the repair guy won’t give me an exact time he will be here. 2 weeks later the guy shows up for the second time and says they told him to take my entire tv apart and replace the ballast inside the light engine because its bad. He takes the whole light engine out and puts in a new ballast and bulb and gets the same result. So at this point the tv is on but I cant turn it off because if I do it might not come back on. To make it better he got a fingerprint on the light engine and it showed up on the screen and now the picture is crooked.

4 weeks later he calls me back and tells me he cannot get the part he wants and samsung wants him to repair it again. I’m just beyond words at this point and tell him to call Samsung and tell them to replace it as they should have just done in the first place. In waiting on this to happen it shuts itself off and will not come back on its officially dead. So I called Samsung to do what I needed to do to get my tv replaced. They said its a 14-21 business day process so I patiently sit and wait to see what they say. I called them back 25 later just to hear they hadn’t started my case yet and they wanted me to wait another 14-21 business days. Oh yea each time I called I was forced to sit on hold for at least 1 and a half hours. I was so upset at this point I called the states attorney and the Better Business Bureau.

They told me to call sears so I did. So I called sears up and told them my story. What does the store manager do? Immediately says that’s now how we treat our customers bring it here and we will replace it. He gives me a brand new sony bravia that costs almost 1k more and a free 3 year warranty and 24 months interest free didn’t charge me a dime more and I haven’t had an issue since. So if you have a Samsung DLP just pray it doesn’t break because if you get stuck with their support you are beyond up a creek without a paddle.

I only use Motorola Phones... Now, Verizon, they put that heavy V-Cast on them, really slows down then....

I would place this in the product Blacklist...not company...

Microsoft xbox 360:

I owned my 360 for exactly 15 months and it broke. I wasnt surprised but wasnt mad b/c i heard they were fixing the defective units ( 3 red lights of death) for free.
Long story short i had one red light NOT 3. Which means Hardware failure commonly associated to an overheated GPU. The told me the only way to get it fixed was to pay $100.
Being a consumer who just over one year ago dropped $400 i feel that to be just unaccetpable considering the units still have failure rates of almost 30%.

Overall feeling:
Its and amazing machine while it lasts, purchase an extended warrenty through the store or avoid this product completely! To anyone living under a rock i hope this helps!!!
