Compaq 7600-Brownish Spots

I recently purchased a Compaq 7600 CRT Monitor. It was a "bargain" at $20; however, I believe I may have been swindled by the ever-sleezy garagesalesman. Anyway, my monitor is a irregular brownish splotches on different parts of the screen, which are most evident when there is a white background. It almost looks like, perhaps, something was spilled behind the screen. Anyone have any idea what this is? I'm 100% certain it is the monitor, and I assume it's some of the internal hardware.

Discoloration of the glass itself, perhaps? I dunno what specifically would cause this, over-voltage/heating, electro-magnetic fluctuations, degradation of the phosphor coating on the glass itself.. Sounds permanent regardless. Stupid question, you have tried degaussing the screen, or removing it from the vicinity of any magnetic fields?

Yes

That's what I kind of figured. Yeah, I did try degaussing it, it appears too random to be distortion from a magnetic field, regardless, I still don't have anything magnetic around it.
