Im looking around at 144 pin 128mb ram modules for my armada 7400. Will any 144 pin module work? Is there a specific type that only my laptop supports? I just need some ram for basic internet surfing and all that. Do i need this upgrade? thanks for helping

yeah, Its an old computer

edit: I forgot to say that I dont need it for hardcore gaming or any of that, just some web surfing and music

also, Im thinking of upgrading the hdd to a 20 gig or possibly bigger, Can I just buy one off of ebay and plug it ni or is it more than that?

yeah, i have older computers also (in sig), i use them 4 mostly internet, my 240 i do mild games.

how much RAM is in there right now? you could probrably find RAM on Ebay 4 very cheap...

the HD should be removeable, look under the laptop, should see like a little door that comes down or something, look around...

Right now im guessing there only about 32megs.... im looking to get it around 256 (which is the max the laptop can handle)

The hd is 2 .6 gigs or around that... Needs alot of work. Oh well, The whole thing was only 50 bucks. :D

The memory for that laptop (that IS an old laptop...) is PC66 or 100 128MB SDRAM SODIMM (32Mx64).

If you really want to get technical, the memory is 3.3v with the signal on the positive edge of the clock. lol

positive it's pc-100....

if you know how 2 take the ram out, take it out and see 4 yourself...

but download everest and it will tell you what type of ram you got in there.

We'll have to start a thread on explaining memory techologies. Most people don't even need to know, but it is kind of fun nonetheless.

jp: That laptop originally came with PC66, but good luck finding it. PC100 is backwards compatible with PC66 and is more readily available.

If you look on the side you should find a hand crank. If it ever freezes just turn that crank and it should get it going again...

lol :) j/k
