Compaq Laptop - need help!

Hey everyone,

I have a Compaq Laptop and I was pretty happy with it till last week. But now when I press the start button, the harddrive and everything start working except the screen remains dark as if its off!!! Does anyone know why thit happens? Is there a solution for this?

hope you have that under warrenty because i think that means that either the screen died, or the bulb died, either way its going to require work, gl
 
have you dropped it? a detached mouse port may give you a non-boot unresponsive screen.

you're saying nothing is displayed in the screen? no logo, etc?
 
please give clear picture of what happened so that everyone here can help you out for this issue, like what was the last thing you do before it went black have you installed new devices? or installed new software or made setup changes theres a lot of issues for display problems, includes ram, hdd, lcd bulb, lcd itself, and some issues related to display
better to state history so that we can isolate issues definitely theres a solution no. 1 is if its under warranty call HP for support needs or if not just post it here and we can try to help you out....

It may be your inverter board or the LCD itself.

Connect the laptop to an external monitor, if it works then it is more likely to be your display.
