hi i have a mate who has lost his recovery cd for his compaq m2000 laptop andhe needs to reinstall due to some bad drivers he has install i cant find were to get another copy of the cd he got with it or if there is an iso i can download leagally.
I do have a spare windows xp cd i can give him but if he uses that it wont put the mobo drivers on that would be on the recovery cd that came with it,
any suggestions that could help .

If the computer has a serial number on the bottom of it (usually they do if he just lost the cd), then you can use your cd (assuming they are both the same version of windows like pro or home), and then not worry about it. Unless your cd is a recovery cd, then you can't use yours. The motherboard drivers are no problem if it is an actual windows cd.

Also, no, you cannot download an iso off the internet, the content of the cd is illegal to download. Well, you could download it, but, you shouldn't.

it has built in wifi what about the drivers for that and the sound ,amd chipset and the rest onboard devices on the mobo

you can usually google the name of the laptop and find a website with all of the drivers for the computer. some of the drivers will be on the windows cd too....
