Comparative Anti-virusology

From a performance viewpoint, what is the best anti-virus software out there? Don't worry about eating up my memory, I can live with it. I see that most people use NAV, but maybe that's simply because they have the best packaging and marketing. Which AV delivers the best reults(protects from viruses, spywares, adwares, trojans etc.)? AVG perhaps?

Thanks.

It's hard to decide which Antivirus program is the best, there is so much competition on the market that it can be hard to choose the best one for you, but have a look at the features and information on various websites that different anti-virus programs offer and choose the one that best suits you. I personally recommend Kaspersky Anit-Virus.
www.kaspersky.com :)

most comprhensive is Zone alarm with Antivirus .. it is a fore wall . pics up all types of virsus and have an auto-defintion updated every day

Top 2, for effective virus recognition and cleaning would probably be Kaspersky and Nod32. Either one is great, my pref is Nod for it's low drain on a system. Kaspersky has prob the highest success rate in catching stuff. :)

From one who has tried out all the big boys out there, which is the best. And also, do these AVs u mentioned come with Spyware/Adware protection too?

The security suite is a full package including firewall etc. If you just want antivirus then the personal pro is the way to go.
