Hey, I'm considering buying my friends PC for around $200. Want to know how it compares to what I already have though. Left is my stuff, Right is his.

GPU: (1x) BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 640MB PCIe <> (2x) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

RAM: 2GB DDR2 Corsair (ram stats below) <> G.SKILL 4GB

TWIN2X2048-6400C4

Speed Rating PC2-6400
Tested Speed 800Mhz
Size 2GB Kit (2 x 1GB)
Tested Latency 4-4-4-12
Tested Voltage 2.1
Performance Profile EPP
SPD Speed 800Mhz
SPD Latency 5-5-5-18

So I know that RAM wise he owns my setup, he has 8GB total and I only have 2GB. However, the vid card, processor, and MOBO comparisons I don't know where to begin thinking.

Would you also be able to give me an estimated value of the two setups? Just ball park what you'd expect to pay if you bought them now.

Thanks for your input!

I think for 200 thats a pretty good buy. The CPU alone is far better than yours. The think the GPU's are similar in performance, and his has much more RAM.

According to Asus, your existing motherboard support AM3 CPU after BIOS flash. I would recommend you stay with AMD as you can upgrade to Phenom IIx4 945.

BTW, Q6600 is compariable to Athlon II x4 ($100) instock.

While for video card, dual 8800GT (9800GT $65@ after MIR at newegg) should be faster.

If you can get these for $200, buy it from him. Than sell it bit by bit on ebay.
video card - keep his dual 8800GT, sell yours.
RAM - most ppl don't need 8 GB RAM. 4GB would probably enough. Or you can use your own 2 x 1GB, then add 2 x 2GB from his make it to 6GB.
CPU - sell his Q6600, your X2 6000+, buy new phenom IIx4 945
Motherboard - sell his intel motherboard.
