compatibility issue

Im looking to add more RAM to my computer, however, I want to keep my existing stick in. I hear that if the manufacturers are not the same sometimes it can cause a problem. I am wondering if anyone has experienced, or knows what manufacturer comes with most dell computers and if there are issues with compatibility. Or would it be recommended to just remove the old ram and just use the new one? Also, i have a dell 2350. thanks

I can't speak for Dell's (i have heard rumors about compatibility).. But I've used different sticks in a few compaqs (and a emachine i belive) and i never had a problem... the brand doesn't matter as much as the type of ram, speed etc.. if you mix the speeds, the lowest speed will be what the ram operates at, so if you're buying a lot more high speed ram, you might think twice about using the old stick...

yeah, thats my understanding as well. Just use cpu-z to get your speed and make sure you buy the same speed. Brand shouldn't cause any conflicts, but better brands are ... well ... better
