Compatible Parts and help

I have an ASUS MB, P5nSLi, do you think thats a decent MB? I've had it for about 2 years and haven't had any problems with it. Now, being said that it is 2 years old, I would like to upgrade the processor from a Pentium 4 to the Q6600. The slot is 775, so it will fit, the problem is I am being told that the MB may not support it and I will have to "flash" it, or download a compatibility program for the MB or something? Is this a dangerous process? I appreciate the help ahead of time!

No clue if that is safe... but yeah, it doesn't support a quad-core. The mobo isn't that great either... It does support a good amount of RAM, but that only runs at 667mhz.

if its a pentium four, i doubt it would support a quad core, and if you screw up the bios flash, you end up bricking the motherboard, which makes it useless
