Compatible?

So I know that you need an AMD mobo to do crossfire and an Intel mobo to do SLI, but what about the chipset-video card relationship? My family just bought a new computer with an AMD tri-core processor and an ATI 3200 chipset. My computer is an AMD dual core with an NVidia 6150 chipset. I was wondering if I would be able to put my 8600GT into their computer. I know it's compatible with mine because I have the NVidia chipset but will the card work on the ATi chipset? I'm not planning to SLI.

Yes you can put any nvidia card into it but you cant put 2. Only 2 ati's for crossfire. Also nvidia does have chipsets for AMD boards which makes them have SLI. And any most intel chipsets allow you to crossfire. Its not based on which processor it supports but which chipset it has.

Well that is my question. I'm not planning to SLI or Crossfire. Lol I'm asking about the chipset not processor. I'm wondering if I can put my 8600GT off my computer with the NVidia chipset into a new computer with an ATi chipset. I'm almost positive I can, I just wanted to be sure because I'm about to buy a new video card for myself.
