Completely removing programs

For some reason I have a few older programs in my programs list that windows will not allow me to uninstall, is there a program that can go in and completely sweep out these programs and make sure there are no traces of it left on my computer?

Yes but CCleaner's uninstaller is the same thing as Window's unistaller! Which is to say they both reference the games uninstaller to work, if Window's can't do it, neither can CC.

I'm interested in this as well, have a couple pesky things which refuse to go away. Reg diving doesn't seem to work, or else I'm looking in the wrong places. Maybe I'll do some googling..

After using CCleaner there will prob still be remnants of the programs. The only way to completely get rid of it is to look around for it. Search in %appdata%, %temp%, and in the registry.

well my issue is with a few programs that windows and ccleaner are incapable of removing. I actually dont even think the program parts are present anymore, but they still show up in the remove programs folder.

Any programs that can assist with this?

^^ Yes!! CCleaner will do this. Just open CCleaner and click "tools" then click "uninstall" and then select which one and click "Delete entry". If that doesnt work then use Hijackthis to do it.

^^^ yes! Except it doesnt! There are a few that immediately pop up and say that its encountered an error. I know what you are talking about, but it will not work for each of these.

There's a way. HijackThis has an uninstall list and it can remove everything ( as it's all about the registry values, that HijackThis is a great tool ).

You could post the list on this forum , and tell me what is the name of the program you want to delete.

To do so:
  • Open HijackThis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Look under System tools.
  • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  • Click on the Save list... button.
  • It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  • Notepad will open. Please copy and paste the contents of this log in your next reply.

This is the BEST way to un-install a program. Esp a big program.
