Hi,
I have a Toshiba laptop which has recently started playing up. Continues to run super slow then crash and i basically can not do anything on it.

So what im wanting to do is to format the laptop completyle and then re-install all software etc and i was wondering is this a good idea or is there a better way?

If formatting is the answer please could you let me know how to do this safely

Responses would be much appreciated
Thankyou

Formatting your hard drive on your laptop can be a real pain in the arse:(, so before you think about doing that lets try some other stuff.

First off, have you tried running a spyware/virus scanner? Something like PCtools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus? Also try running a registry cleaner. Theres plenty out there but I use PCtools Desktop Maestro.

Also think about the last time your laptop was running ok and try and remember if you installed any new applications just before you noticed yer laptop playing up.

let me know how you get on

You can also do a destructive restore instead of a format. A lot of computer manufacturers have a way set up where they can take the computer and set it back to out of the box state. The computer will have everything on it that was there when you first turned it on. This can be a painless process depending on your computer. For example to do a destructive restore on my Dell all I have to do is press Ctrl+F11 at the first boot screen and I'm done in under 5 min. You can find out how to do a destructive restore on your model by calling the manufacturer.
