Computer Advice Needed for a newb at building computer

I am in the process of making a PC and have researched on every part and read many reviews and forum. I really could use some help seeing as i never really made one before. I've installed parts like DVD drivers, video cards, and RAM, but I've never built a whole PC. The most I'm worried about is compatibility, and getting the most bang for my buck. If you would, please check if these parts are what i should get and if i could possibly get better.

I had Windows xp PRO it's a good OS.But windows VISTA ULTIMATE is way better! How long before all games won't run on Xp?Besides Vista is getting way better!

Ive also heard that you need xp first, then you have to upgrade to vista. Is this true? Also; what is wrong with my Intel Core 2 Duo? Is it not compatible?

1. CPU - I also would get the E8400, excellent bang for the buck.

2. GPU - Looks good to me. Evga is an excellent brand, and has the step-up program as well.

3. Mobo - I would personally go for the Gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo, it's around $110. It is not a SLi mobo, but IMO SLi is a waste anyway, a good way to throw away money, as it is horrible for price/performance.

4. PSU - Looks good to me.

5. Your memory link just went to a misc newegg page. I suggest getting 4GB (2X2 sticks). Let us know if you have any questions concerning memory.

6. HDD - You picked a great hard drive. Personally, I would pick one from Seagate with not as much cache, realistically you won't notice much difference between them. Just a suggestion to save money that won't really affect your system.

7. DVD - I would personally rather get a Sata DVD burner, mainly just because they are a little faster in realistic settings and are newer technology/the standard right now. Out of all of the places to save money, IMO this shouldn't be one of them, in this way...because most of your options are going to be around $30 anyway.

8. Looks good to me.

9. OS - I would get Vista 64-bit Home Premium. This system can more than handle Vista. There are more reasons IMO to get Vista over XP, but I won't ramble on here.

Good luck.

No, you don't need to have XP to install Vista. Also, don't change your operating system based off of one jerkoff's opinion, use whatever you want.

He suggested the E8400 instead of the E6750 because it's newer and a better performer; the E6750 is compatible though.

And he suggested that motherboard because, I don't know, maybe he's a fanboy or something. He probably owns it himself.

Were you wanting to go SLI (you originally chose an SLI motherboard)? If not, you can get more than you need for 90 bucks, and if you really want to spend more on your motherboard there are much newer and better boards than that Asus he suggested for no reason.

Wow!Some people are pigs!

I also disagree with everything you recommended, besides the E8400 cpu. Why you would get Vista 32-bit is beyond me. That mobo is a wifi-capable one, why you would suggest that also has me confused. He wants price/performance, not overpriced random crap.

Most people can't tell the difference between integrated sound and a sound card, and your integrated sound will support those speakers. Unless you're a real audiophile and your music is in .wav or other lossless format, integrated is fine.

As for your fans, it depends what you're looking for. I'm sure CoolerMaster's fans work fine, but you might want to switch them out if you'd like especially powerful or quiet fans. It's a commodity, really.

Thank you fortyways Steelshivan and Blackheart. You people really helped me out alot, and now i will be able to start buying my parts and building my pc! :D

Apparently on the Crytek computer configuration they say you require a midi case, and i couldnt find a midi case when i typed "midi case" or "midi tower" into the Newegg search.
Is my PC case compatible or do i need a MIDI case?
Also, how do i know which case will work with my Mobo?

You want an ATX mid tower. "midi" is just something people write instead of "mid" when they are suffering from a mild case of stupidity.

I have an0ther question right here (hopefully its my last)

Well this is actually a question about the motherboard and how i have decided to go the SLI route. I actually wrote a whole lot so i just put it on another thread Here is the link to it
