I have sort-of an oddball question: is it possible to hook up like an infrared transmitter and turn your computer into a universal remote? I doubt it, but I figure if anyone would know how to do it, it would be someone here
I'm talking about using the computer to control other devices like a DVD player for example. Just like take an infrared transmitter and use some software to control other devices, i.e. open the DVD player's tray, etc.
It can transmit and receive signals. This means, you can either find the codes for your tv/radio/whatever on the internet. Or like TOO's PDA, have it learn from your regular remote.
I remember trying to make one of these ones, it worked for a while but then I ran out of uses and stopped using it XD. Its probably in shambles in my closet. Have fun, good luck.
At school we have a USB infrared adaptor and with the projector remote you control with the arrows the computer from the remote... but I'm not sure if you can remote turn it on.... otherwise we do that at school
