I did some sort of performance check on my computer that was checking to see if everything is working to maximum performance on my computer and since then the computer has become louder. Is there any way of getting it to return to the quiet mode that it was in before ?I think it was in the control panel somewhere in the Performance Information and tools section for Windows Vista.

sounds to me like it gave your cpu a full load wictch made your fan work at max settings and it never went back down
turn off your computer
unplug your fan and plug it back in
if that doesnt work clean out your case and it will make it way quieter

The computer has 3 fans including it's fan on the graphics card.
The case is clean because it is a new computer ,only 2 months old.
It is a Dell Inspiron 530 and it's graphics card was replaced by Dell just one week ago because it was making a vaccuum cleaner noise. Thankfully that vaccuum cleaner noise is gone now.
Hard to say in what way it became louder. Maybe like an electrical static noise perhaps .
