computer beeps when usb is connected

hey evrybody

when i start my computer i hear 3 short beeps out the computer speaker
boot also takes a long time.
but when i boot the computer while the joystick and my smartcard reader is
unpluged than every thing is normal and i hear only 1 short beep
i updated already every drivers from thes tools to the newest versions

is there somebody who can help me

mainboard: MSI P4N DAIMOND (socket 775 )
cpu : intel P4 640 3.2Ghz 800 FSB 2Mb
power : OCZ modstream 450 watt
memory :corsair 1024 Mb DDR2 667 twinx matched
dvd writer : plextor px 716A
dvd rom : LG dvd 16/52
graficcard :ATI X700pro 256 Mb

windows XP home + sp 2
 
Do they beep within a few seconds of the computer being turned on, or is it when XP is loading? It's normal for the computer to beep when a USB device is plugged into the computer, but usually that only happens when you plug it in when windows is already started up.
