hey could someone look over my computer build and make sure I have everything and possibly make suggestions. My budget is $1000 and I will be using this computer for high-end gaming and I do a lot of multitasking

HD- Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

Video- MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

RAM - Kingston 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KVR800D2N5K2/4G - Retail

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400

Case - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Power supply - Antec Signature SG850 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply (this could change because the deal is about to end so another suggestion could be nice)

Motherboard - ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard (I really just picked a high rated one from new egg, does this one look ok?)

Thanks for your help!!

Get a quad CPU, Better video card, lower the power supply to 650W and get a 500GB hard drive.

Otherwise parts look good.

Firstly i would suggest to scrap the 250Gb Hard drive regardless the price. On the site that i use (mwave.com ( not entirely sure about other sites)) A SEAGATE 750GB ST3750640NS BARRACUDA ES SATA 3Gbs 7200RPM
Runs for around $100.

i would also suggest a different memory brand than kingston. i have Had bad experiences with Kingston brand and suggest Crucial or even Patriot.

Also for just an extra $20 you can go from the 3.0Ghz Dual core to the INTEL core 2 quad q6600 (BX80562Q6600) 2.4ghz em64t quad core w/8mb cache 65nm 1066mhz lga775-pin retail boxed w/cooling fan.

Also i see you have not listed a dvd drive. i would suggest the
ASUS drw-2014l1t SATA lightscribe DVD rw drive w/sw (retail black+white) which can be found for about $40.

Hope my advice helps you in ur build. Its always nice to try and help out a new builder. if you need any more help at all i'd be happy to help! :)

Good luck overclocking with that board, because I haven't had any.....

But really you can do better with the Video card though.

Wow thanks for all the replies!
So a quad core at 2.4ghz is better than dual at 3.0ghz?
The reason i listed no drives is because I already have 2 but thanks for the suggestion.
What do you suggest for a better video carD?

What do you suggest for a better video carD?
Radeon 4870 or a 4850 at least.

So a quad core at 2.4ghz is better than dual at 3.0ghz?
Currently, for gaming faster dual-core is slightly better than a slower quad, but quads have so much more potential, if the price is about the same (say, $30 or less difference), I would go Quad. However, if all quads cost way more than the E8400, I would go for the dualie since it's cheaper.

ok thanks.
last question, if my cpu is 1066 mhz and my mother board is 1600 mhz/ 1333 mhz are they compatible?

oh and why the BIOSTAR TPower I45 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard?
I just don't understand what the difference/advantage of that over the one i had.
