Computer build help needed

Hello everyone,

I have recently decided to build a computer from scratch for the first time and after looking around the web for a while for parts and information i've finally come here looking for a bit of help. Ive made a decision on most of the parts i would like to use but im curious if this is what i should use and/or actually need. Basically i want someone to check my work before i go out and but a few hundred dollars worth of parts so here is what i have, any help would be greatly appreciated.

* CPU Cooling compund - Im unsure of what to get here
* Processor Cooling Fan - and im unsure if this is even needed

HDD - 7200RPM is faster
CPU - core i7 950 worth consider
Video card - good price at $70, but I wonder if you want higher end video card
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate retail version is expensive

The MB you've chosen is socket 1156 and the CPU is socket 1366 which are incompatible. With a tight budget you'll want an 1156 processor.

The i5-750 or 760 is a good value and a very good gaming CPU. If you can fit it in your budget the i7-870 is a good choice.

The PSU is way more wattage than you need. You'd be fine with something in the 500w - 650w range.

If you're building a gaming system, I'd consider a better graphics card - A good card and an excellent value is the GTX 460 line

The CPU will come with a cooler that is adequate unless you overclock. If you do you'll want an 1156 cooler.
