I'm wanting to build myself a decient gaming computer for under 300 bucks. I already have 2 optical drives, 220watt power supply (if that will be enough), and 1gig of kingston ram. I have kinda went over to a intel cpu because theres a winder range of mobos..can you help me deside on the parts?

How come? I'm not wanting the best money can buy just a decent system to play games and surf the web. Nothing serious

To play games you need Windows, and that alone cost's $100.

What parts exactly do you have besides the ones you listed?

yes and you most likely need a new PSU unless you get a really cheap Graphics card and then you won't be able to run games very well and if you don't have a monitor that's a problem

and is the Ram DDR or DDR2?

$300 not enough, unless you already got OS.
You will need minium of $400 for the tower.
For the whole system, you will looking at min. of $550

Yeah check out the wishlist I made in my previous post, and tell me what you think.
1. Your gonna need a power supply, 450W or 500W would work(of decent quality, such as antec, OCZ, corsair, pc power and cooling are some well known brands)

2. The 9400gt wont play any games, minimum card i would get would be a 4650 such as this:

3. That case is rubbish

4. You would be better with a caviar black, the caviar green drives are slower because they are low energy usage drives.

Thats why I went with that hard drive because I dont want to use alot of energy since I dont pay the electric bill...But what case would you recommend? I chose that one becuase it was under 40 bucks and was good looking, and included a PSU, and its just a piece of steal rivited together...I want one under 40 bucks and with a see through panel...and thats the only one in my price range

Case:

PSU, you dont want to use one that comes with a case as chances are itll end up blowing on you and killing your graphics card, motherboard, memory, and possibly cpu. The hard drive doesnt use enough energy to matter...you can save more energy with a decent power supply, as cheap ones are very ineffecient, such as this:

Thanks for the suggestions on the parts guys, thats a real nice case bomberboy :good:. Yeah I will get a better PSU I have been looking them up and noticed some of them that are high in price are energy effecient. If you dont mine me asking how exactally does the system builders windows vista OS work?
