What's the purpose of ur build??gaming???If yes,
I'd rather go with the GTX 260/GTX 275 for the video card since their price are reasonably good atm...

and for the sound card do u really need them?since the Mobo goes with the build-in sound card i guess...

and inc the RAM to 4gb

ye its for gaming is the gtx 260/275 better or just better cost? and no i dont really need sound card but what is mobo

Mobo is short for motherboard, and yes that motherboard will match with that cpu, however your cpu heatsink wont because it is designed for socket lga775 not lga1366

The gtx 260 is a bit more expensive but it is a better card than the 9800gtx+

hi based on the feed back so far i have gone with this (im doing this on cyberpowerpc.com)

CASE: Solaries 403 Gaming Midi Tower Case Black & Silver

CPU: (Quad-Core)Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.0GHz 1333FSB 12MB L2 Cache 64-bit

FAN: INTEL LGA775 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK

MOTHERBOARD: GigaByte GA-EP45T-UD3LR Intel P45 Express Chipset LGA775 FSB1600 DDR3/1600 Mainboard w/GbLAN,USB2.0,IEEE1394a,&7.1Audio

MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module (Corsair or Major Brand)

VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 4870 PCI-E 16X 1GB DDR5 Video Card [+57] (Major Brand Powered by ATI)

i was also looking at running ubuntu or vista in 62 bit but i was not sure if this setup could run that??

could you tell me if this is a good set up?

thankyou in advance,

The problem with getting a lga 775 socket type cpu is that you wont be able to upgrade the cpu later down the line, because intel has stopped making them, and is now focusing on the core i7 range whcih uses the 1366 type socket.
I would say stick with the i7 platform you started with, even though it is more expensive it will be easier to replace the cpu later on.
Alternatively you could go AMD instead. The phenom II 955 I think is better than Q9650, and relatively the same price. It also uses the AM3 socket type, which they will continue to make cpus for, making it easier to upgrade in the future

In regards to the operating systems, they will run well with that setup, Vista needs a minimum of one gig of ram to operate and you have four so there will be no problem. With Vista though you may want to see if they offer the windows 7 upgrade voucher, allowing you to upgrade to the better operating system when it comes out later this year

How is AMD on price compared to intel?

could you suggest a phenom II 955 I compadable MOBO and a good cpu fan to go with it.

on newegg the q9650 is 319 usd and the amd 955 is 215 usd, the Asus M4A78T-E and the Thermalright Ultra-120A is a good match for the amd 955 i think, it is what i am considering to buy also

Do exactly as he said. Very good advice. You want to get a PSU (Power Supply Unit) with 650W incase you run Crossfire down the road or want to upgrade

The ATi card is great. I would recommend switching over to a phenom II based platform though, as it provides much better upgrade route.
