I have microsoft security essentials and for some reason when I am prompted by firefox to download a software update. It keeps trying to download then it just says the update cannot be installed.

I tried looking in my computer security to see if I accidentally blocked firefox but I do not see anything. Any idea what's wrong?

Thanks

try using Windows internet Explorer to download. You might not be able to. Example can't get updates for windows with firefox. Might be the same. Have to use Explorer for updates.

I did not explain the issue well. When I open my firefox browser it says there are updates for Firefox, but when I go to download them it does not work.

Im not sure but here is some suggestions.

Goto mozbackup with link below. It will back up your favorites and thunderbird one at a time. backs up maybe 10 other browsers and clients. used for years. It backs up everything and puts it back just like it is now.

http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/download.php

Then try this. goto the firefox directory and delete extentsions.cashe, extensions.ini and (.rdf) then restart. when ya start it will rebuild.

On the other hand after the backup and you tried the other options and you have uninstalled you could download then install then run mozbackup.
all i got........
