Computer Choice

Hi,

My work is giving away Desktops for a discounted price. Basically, I have the choice between the following two computers:

1. AMD 64 X2 2.0 GHz Processor
2 GB Memory
80 GB Hard Drive
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive

or 2. Intel Core2Duo 2.53 GHz Processor
2 GB Memory
80 GB Hard Drive
DVD-RW/CD-RW Drive

One does not have more or less software than the other. They are $150 a piece? Which one should I get, I am thinking the Intel but are the processors relatively the same? Your recommendations on the deal?

Get the Intel one. Faster processor plus Intel wipes the floor with AMD in those 2 setups.

Not only the clockspeed, the C2D is also more efficient clock-for-clock, so CPU performance-wise the Intel setup will be far better. AMD's mobile CPUs haven't really been all that great for some time, they have some new and promising CPUs but the one you listed is none of them.

I was being sarcastic, hence the rolleyes smiley. Clock speed does not relate directly to processing power, unless you're comparing two chips that are completely identical expect for clock speed.
