computer cooling software?

I had a question about computer software that can help keep you computer cooler and not over heat..I have a lap top that I got not to very long ago and I have been very pleased with it, it runs fine and I have been taking care of it as best I can do..but I still notice a minor thing with it...when I get on it will get warm very quickly and its gotten to where it feels more the just warm but just a little hot...not so hot I can not touch it mind you but the heat in crease is certainly noticeable I have been looking into getting a fan pad..to go underneath it to regulate its heat...as well as maybe look into cooling glue...all of which were suggested to me by my Boyfriend.
But I have also heard some people talk about programs that can help cool down your computer as well..free to use software, I apologize if someone else has brought up this topic before..but if any can help me out it would be really appreciated hopefully I can find a way to cool down the computer for a little while, while I am waiting to get the fan ordered and anything else I might need for it.
 
There's not really software that causes it to run cooler without doing other things... I use RightMark CPU Clock Utility to underclock my processor. Some computers may be able to use speedfan to increase the CPU's fan speed. Or if you're running a Dell, i8kfan should control the fans... Any of these programs can easilly be found using google.
 
Yeah I thought that sounded odd myself the guy was telling there was programs to help with that and to me it just did not seem believable.I mean the computer overheating as nothing to do with the programs or sofware on there it has to do with the internals of the computer working to hard and making it heat up, or maybe I am wrong...I mean I will be the first one to admit I don't know that much about about computer and technicals dealing with them though I have been seriously thinking of looking into a cooler pad for my laptop...I notice the computer will run just fine but later on if its on for like an hour possibly two it starts lagging pretty badly on games and anything with fairly big graphics. This is starting to concern me since I have hear that usually is a bad sign I am hoping getting a cooling pad will help solve this problem and prevent harm from coming to laptop. I just don't want to damage this thing, its not really that old yet.
