okie dokies,
i was checking my fahmon and decided i would unlock the third core (fourth is defective) on my phenomII X2 550BE to check how much of a PPD boost i would get, now i have done this a few times before without issue.
but this time after unlocking the third core my computer doesn't start, as in nothing happens when i hit the "power" button, no fans no lights no beeps absolutely nothing.

so what do you think has gone wrong here?
and what would be the best approach to sorting this problem out?

the only thing i could think of would be take out the cmos battery, but seems that i've never done it or even know if thats what i have to do, i decided i should ask for some help from my bestest friends on the interwebz!

anyway thanks for reading and if you have any advice please let me know.

(may not reply till tomorrow because i have a party to go to now)

Sweet thanks for that, I'll have to get round to that tomorrow after work. Just hope my CPU hasn't died!

from what I was aware the CPU shouldn't get any damage but perhaps I am shit outta luck.

So how do I take the CMOS battery out? Throw a rock at it, suck it out with a straw? Let me know the best way.

Cheers!!

You just pull it out. Some motherboards will have a latch, but usually it's just a little plastic snap or something. Don't force anything and you'll be ok. :)

Just an FYI, if the CPU has died and you turn on the power the computer should give you a beep code. Same with RAM.

thanks man, some good info to know!

looks like taking it out the cmos battery did the trick! i speak to you through my now working computer! :)

thanks for the input guys!

Wow, i'm seriously like: 'WTF?!?' i've got no idea where you guys are talking about >.<

but im not that dumb that i dont know what a graphics card is lawl. dw :)

nice.. i wish i knew it

It's all acronyms, lol. The cmos battery is basically the same thing as the battery in your watch. Remove it, and it resets the time, date, and settings. If you look on your motherboard, it'll be a round shiny silver thing that looks like a big watch battery...because it is...
